The Holy Spirit keeps us present before God

Pastor Mark Harrell

If you are a pastor in rural America like me, you keep your radar on to discover new ways to expand your leadership, teaching and pastorate abilities.  What I constantly remind myself is that I have someone who’s much better at praying and leading right at my disposal and He is already at work on my behalf.  “God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along,” if we will acknowledge Him and draw close.

I know the Message is a paraphrase and not a literal translation, but man, is it good in causing truth to come alive in our vernacular!  Romans 8:26-28 is so powerful and represents one of the greatest gifts that God has given each of us to help in our leadership position.  Listen to some of this from the Message Bible.

“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along.”  Later in those verses it says, “He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God.”

I love that phrase, “The Holy Spirit keeps us present before God.”  My responsibility is to stay close to the Holy Spirit, allow Him to pray through me and He will keep me present before God.  I cannot think of a better leadership advancement tool than that.  The Holy Spirit will talk to God about what I need.

In all your striving to gain wisdom and understanding in leadership, learn to nurture and enjoy your walk with the Holy Spirit.  He is there to make Jesus so real to you.  John 16:14NIV, “He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you.”

I cannot think of a better counselor, teacher, conference speaker or mentor than

“The Holy Spirit.”  Why not draw real close to HIM today.  Let Him guide you into all truth (John 16:13), that you need for today.
