12 Feb Words you can trust
Let’s be honest. These days, it’s hard to take things at face value. To trust what people say. It’s hard to know if people really have your best interest in mind.
However, there is one that we can fully trust— every word, every action, even every intention. You know who I’m talking about. His name is Jesus.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
The word trust used in this instance is the Hebrew word batach, which means to be totally secure and sure; to be so confident that you feel careless.
Can you imagine that? Living every single day careless because you can fully trust every intention of the One leading you? What’s more is that because we can trust Him, we can also trust His Word. Let’s look at a few of the reasons we can be confident in it.
First off, we can trust the Scripture because Jesus said we could. And anything He says goes. If that’s not enough to base your trust off of, it is also historically true. There are plenty of historical records that tell the same stories found in the Bible, giving us proof that its records are true. Psalm 33:4 says, “For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.”
Third, Scripture is scientifically true. Or as Psalm 19:7 puts it— the law of the Lord is perfect. It fits with proven scientific evidence. Just take a look at references in the story of creation, and you’ll see how it matches up! Our God knows what He is doing; there’s no question about it.
Then, the Bible is prophetically true. I could go on for hours about this one. There are countless prophecies in Scripture that have been fulfilled— from Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection all the way to the terrible wars we are in the midst of today.
Finally, the best proof of the truth of God’s Word is the most simple. It transforms lives. Think about Paul. He went from a persecutor of Christians, to possibly the most influential Christian of his time. What about Peter? He went from denying His Savior to becoming the rock of His very first church. And don’t forget David! He went from an adulterer, a liar and a cheater to becoming the greatest King Israel had ever known!
Those life changes occurred because they decided to put their full trust in God and in His Word. And as John 15:7-8 says if we remain in God’s Words and His Words remain in us, our lives will show it. So let’s decide today to place our full confidence in our Father and in His words because He who promised is always faithful!
