Three Words That Will Change Your Life Forever

Three Words That Will Change Your Life Forever

Making promises is one of the easiest things in the world to do. It doesn’t take much skill or faithfulness. The hard part is always keeping those promises.

Just look at companies who work so hard to fulfill the promises their company makes. They know how difficult it is to truly share a message that is clear, convincing and compelling. But… that’s just the beginning. When you really deliver on your promise, in business and in life, it creates something really special.

That’s why I’m so grateful to serve a God who always fulfills His promises. But even though He does, He still leaves us with a part to play. We will always receive God’s promises when we participate with His nature.

For instance, let’s talk about receiving God’s promise of building relationships that we enjoy. Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:32-5:1, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love…”

These three words are ones we must look at if we want to receive our promise, if we want our environment to become something that our hearts long to live in. To understand them more fully, let’s take a look at them in the original language they were written in— Greek.

Kind in the Greek is chrestos, which means good, useful and gracious. Compassionate is eusplagchnos, which means well-compassioned and tenderhearted. Forgiving is charizomai, which means to grant pardon, kindness and favor.

Changing an entire environment may seem like too huge of a task to fulfill. But focusing on living by these three words is not only doable, but it will truly change our environments. For God to keep His promises to you, you must keep them to Him and to others as well.

The sometimes-unpleasant truth is that blessing in our lives often requires devotion when we want to desert a person, faith when positive feelings aren’t present, passion and patience when we feel passive, and growing up when we feel more like giving up.

But here’s why it’s worth it. Keeping the promise of true kindness, compassion and forgiveness helps us face and overcome complicated issues we deal with inside. People who live in God’s best mature through complication issues instead of moving them.

It also causes us to focus our obedience on what creates blessing. When our focus is right, we just keep winning. Because our eyes are on what our Heavenly Father has for us and how He wants us to live, not on our circumstances or how we are being treated, we will enjoy His blessings in all their fulness.

Today, take some time to think about promises that God has made you specifically in the area of relationships. Now, think about your end of the deal. How are you doing with compassion, kindness and forgiveness? I guarantee these three words can change your life! Now, will you let them?
