20 Oct “The Greatness of His Faithfulness” by Stacey Coleman
“For great is His love towards us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.” Psalm 117:2
August 2016 was life changing for me. Not only was my oldest son getting married, but our community suffered an unprecedented flood— and it all happened at the same time. We had left our new home in Louisiana nice and tidy to travel to Hot Springs, Arkansas for this long awaited family event. The wedding was such a joyous occasion, yet upon our return everything would be very different.
The rain fell for three days and eventually the Amite River began to overflow. This caused our home as well as our church to take on two and a half feet of water. Everything we had worked for all these years were now being gutted and our belongings put out as trash by the side of the road. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see such devastation across our entire community.
Yet, it was so amazing to see such love and concern as everyone pulled together helping to rebuild. It was a tragic time for so many people, but I now see it as an opportunity for the Lord to make Himself known. It is a testimony of His goodness and His provision. Supernaturally, the Lord provided food when we were hungry, a bed to lay our weary bodies, and the means to rebuild what the enemy had tried to destroy. My God showed Himself faithful.
We have all encountered ups and downs in life. Some seasons are more difficult than others, but His faithfulness always remains. We can never go wrong depending on His guidance. Our testimony is made stronger by allowing His faithfulness to prevail in our lives.
I am reminded of the beautiful hymn– Great is Thy Faithfulness. What a simple reminder of God’s love and His faithfulness towards us. I encourage you today to embrace the journey set before you and declare the greatness of His faithfulness.
