My Beloved by Erin Velasquez

My Beloved by Erin Velasquez

As I sit here to type I can feel this soft hum in my spirit, and I know that it is the Lord sweetly singing His love over each of you, dear readers. He is wooing us back in love with Him. He is pleased. He is saying, “Take heart, my Beloved. I see you. I see all that you do. I see right down to the smallest detail. I applaud you and am blessed by your faithfulness.”

Remember that overwhelming love you felt when you first met Him? I can’t help but smile as I remember my first realization of how much God just wanted to love me and wanted me to love Him. I remember the beauty of the moment He called me to ministry. At that moment, I knew the theme of my life would be to be used by Him to help others and I gladly said, “Yes.”

This beautiful relationship developed and it was so good, but then this thing called ministry happened. There are so many needs, so many hurting people. There is all the organization, administration and overseeing. Whether your place is directly involved in the daily ins-and-outs of ministry, or you are married to someone who is, it is still a heavy weight.

I feel the Lover of our souls calling us to set it all aside, even if just for a minute, and re-connect with Him. He is calling us saying, “Come. Sit with Me awhile. I love you not for what you do but because I created you to love you.” He has been there through it all. He has seen your faithfulness. He sees your heart to please Him and your desire to help others.

I encourage you to take a moment and pause. For just a few minutes, set aside all the tasks of the day. Go to the One who loves you unconditionally and sit at His feet as Mary did. Remember, you own love story with Him. Let Him wash over you and overwhelm your soul. He will not disappoint.

Song of Solomon 6:3a – “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;”
