08 Feb Living in His Grace by Melissa Matta
“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17 NIV
I think one of the greatest things I’ve learned in ministry so far is about the grace of God. The way of the world is to work hard and achieve perfection. If you don’t, you’re failing.
The season that my family is in right now has me more at home than at work. The transition from being a “working mom” to a “mom that works” was a difficult transition. I worked hard in my job and was moving up the ladder. Last year God spoke to me and said, “There’s going to be a time where you have to decide whether you want to keep moving up in your career or decide to be in ministry with your husband.” Going into this season was part of that decision. I decided to work with him in ministry.
I am giving this example to show that transitions are not always easy. Life changes are not always easy. By putting yourself in God’s will, you are protected under His covering, and He is pleased. While we strive to live for Him and give Him our all, HE IS PLEASED.
We received a plaque from our previous church that reads, “The will of God will not take you where the grace of God will not protect you.” I didn’t realize how much I needed those words when the enemy tried to attack me for having a degree that I am not using, or for not working to achieve and continue to move up the ladder in a career.
The enemy wants to play into your doubts and wants you to second guess if you are living in God’s will and tells you that you aren’t good enough. Don’t get caught up in the enemy telling you that you must achieve perfection and achieve it now. We aren’t perfect, that’s why God has grace. Trust that God will direct your steps and make your paths straight.
Where are you struggling to let go and let God? Is fear getting in the way of God’s will being done in your life today?
Let’s determine to move forward in the will of God and in His grace!
