22 Apr Living Free by Patty Freeman
“If you abide in My Word (hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them), you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” John 8:31, 32 (Amplified)
When we pastored in the early years of our marriage, it was easy for me to hide behind my 6’4” husband. Feeling insecure and fearful most of the time, I did the things in ministry that were “safe” for me, such as teaching preschool Sunday School and making meals for others. I didn’t believe I was capable or able to do more. It’s a good thing God never gives up on us!
When God called us into missions my concepts of Him and myself began to change. God started healing my heart and showing me the lies I believed about Him and myself that so limited my faith. He opened my eyes to see nations needing to hear the Gospel. I had to be accountable for the words I spoke to myself. It was no longer, “I can’t” or “I’m fearful” but “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” and “I have God’s power, love and a sound mind.” When I started saying and believing God’s truths, it was a natural thing to share Him and what He’s done for me to people in other nations. I could be myself. That is living free.
This August 15, we’ll be leading Faith Family Church’s Internship for 18-25 year old. I would have never thought I’d be doing this. We’ll be discipling and encouraging these interns to go deeper in God and His Word, so they can live to their full potential and share Him with others.
That is living free.
