Live in the Moment
By Patti Ford
It seems like about this same time every year I find myself in the same place.
I’m trying to juggle summer time with family and survive the vacation season.
I’m doing my best not to be discouraged because of all the things I wanted to accomplish during the summer that didn’t happen, and are once again, moved down the list.
Then, there’s the anxiety issue over the fall ministry schedule. How can I enjoy what’s left of summer and plan Christmas events all at the same time?! If I’m not careful, this is where my heart races, my mind is overwhelmed, and I feel so inadequate.
At these moments, if I will quiet myself and listen, the Holy Spirit is so sweet to remind me that all the comfort I need is right here in my hands-in the Word. My most recent reminder was:
“You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11 NASB
All I have to do is settle down and look for the revealing of the path He already has planned. Rest in His presence and let that presence keep me in the present! I will always be a list maker and a planner, but it doesn’t have to be at the expense of enjoying the moments right in front of me. If any of this sounds familiar to you, I pray that for you too.
