14 Aug Holding onto Hope by Patty Freeman
“So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the HOPE we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He who promised is reliable and faithful to His Word.” Hebrews 10:23 (Amplified Bible)
A young married couple tried to have children for 5 years, to no avail. God had promised them children and they were HOLDING ONTO HOPE. Their couple friends were having babies and they were going to numerous baby showers, which brought greater longing and disappointment. Choosing the adoption journey led them to interviews with pregnant moms, only to be turned down several times. But they chose to keep believing God’s promises and keep praising Him in the midst of darkness. They were HOLDING ONTO HOPE.
God’s plan for them was just a little further down the road. After their long wait, they finally adopted their newborn baby girl. HOPE became her middle name. 6 weeks after bringing her home, they were surprised to find out that they were pregnant! Today, their girls are ages 3 and 2 years old, only 9 ½ month apart. And God has blessed them again, with another pregnancy and the birth of baby boy!
HOPE is a desire or an expectation that something good will happen. To a believer, it’s not a ‘hope so’, it’s a ‘know so’. God can’t lie or deceive us. He will do what He’s promised. His Word is true and can be depended on. This HOPE is an anchor for our souls. This HOPE is Jesus! (Hebrews 6:18-19, 1 Timothy 1:1)
What are you believing God for today? Is it having a child, the salvation of a rebellious child, or healing for your soul or body? Go to God and ask Him to reveal His plan through His Word and His promises. He is reliable and faithful to do what He has promised. Don’t give up.
Keep HOLDING ONTO HOPE.
