God’s Peace by Amy Royael

God’s Peace by Amy Royael

I don’t know about you, but storms seem to sweep through my life on a regular basis and I find myself seeking peace. I have learned through the years that true peace is God’s peace and can only be found in Him. God’s peace is not the absence of conflicts or difficulties and has nothing to do with us or circumstances. I have found that the only source of peace is having a relationship with God. The only way to know peace is to know God and to put our hope and trust in Him.

In every situation, Jesus always allowed the peace of God to lead Him. He took time to talk with the woman at the well. He reached out His hand and healed the leper. He felt the touch of the woman with the issue of blood and stopped to recognize her. And, He displayed perfect peace in the storm.

Whether it’s relationships or circumstances, we can all relate to feeling like we are being tossed around in the storms of life. So, let’s think about what Jesus did in the middle of the storm. The wind and waves were tossing the boat and His friends were speaking words of fear and then anger. Instead of giving in to the fear, He took control of the storm by standing firm in knowing He had complete control of it.

In every situation, Jesus was the perfect example of how to have faith and trust in our Father God. He constantly reminded His disciples to take a moment to stop and focus on what’s in front of them with faith.

We don’t need to run from the difficult times. We can face the storms of life. Face them with God at our side – knowing that He is Lord of the rocking boat and Keeper of the waves, for God is Peace.  I encourage you to pray these scriptures as I have found they have helped calm my anxious heart.

Thank You, Father, that You will keep me in perfect peace when my heart is steadfast, because I trust in You. Isaiah 26:3

Thank You, Father, that You fill me with Your Peace, not the world’s peace. It is a gift from You. And, thank You that when Your Peace consumes me, I need not be anxious, troubled or afraid. John 14:26-27

Father, thank You for the promise that if I will stop being anxious and give everything to You in prayer, Your Peace, the peace that transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Father, thank you that in peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:7-8
