Dress for Success by Stacey Coleman

Dress for Success by Stacey Coleman

When I was a teenager, I loved the clothes in my mom’s closet. We wore the same size and I couldn’t wait to wear one of her peplum dresses along with peep toe pumps complete with the cutest bow— those were so classy in the 80’s! I felt like a million bucks and was definitely dressed for success.

The Bible clearly lays out a plan for us on how we should dress for success. The Book of Ephesians says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians chapter six teaches us to be prepared spiritually by putting on the full armor of God. Just as we carefully choose our attire for the day, we should be prayerfully dressed to combat the schemes of the enemy. It is important to know that we are in a spiritual battle. The enemy will always try to pull us down especially in our thought. But God has given us a way to protect ourselves through prayer.

The book Fervent by Priscilla Shirer has given me a new insight into the strategies that the enemy uses against us. It clearly describes how the enemy plots to disable God’s will in our lives. But we can use wisdom and discernment through prayer to be quick in recognizing his many divisive ways and to stand strong against our enemy’s attack plan.

I encourage you to read this book and study Ephesians chapter six for yourself so that you can be prepared for battle. Each morning make it your prayer to use your sword of the spirit and put on your helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shield of faith, and shoes of peace. You’ll be ready to embrace the day and be dressed for success.
