Church Highlight: Victory Christian Fellowship – Somerset, KY

Somerset, Kentucky is the home to Victory Christian Fellowship Church. Somerset has a population of about 11,200 people and is in Pulaski County. This city is loaded with historical events and is even known for an abundance of outdoor recreation including things like boating, hiking, fishing and even apple picking in the fall.

Victory Christian Fellowship was founded in 1990 by Pastor Mark and Jeanette Harrell. After graduating from high school, Mark attended Louisiana State University, majoring in architecture. Accepting his call to the ministry, Mark transferred to Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas, where he completed the Biblical Studies Curriculum. From CFNI, Mark, now married to Jeanette, accepted an associate pastorate at Bethany World Prayer Center, a 6,000-member church in Baker, Louisiana. After seven years at Bethany, the Harrell’s began to feel the call to plant a church. As they prayed, it became clear that Somerset, Kentucky was the place they were called to serve, and thus Victory Christian Fellowship was born.

Victory Christian Fellowship is a spirit-filled body of believers, sustained by a personal relationship with the Lord, empowered by a commitment to community, and expressed through outreach to others. Their desire as a church is to exalt Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to work freely as He wills. Jesus alone is the “Head of the Church” and solely responsible for the transformation of lives.

Alongside being the lead pastor of Victory Christian Fellowship, Pastor Mark has a strong desire to strengthen and unite Kentucky’s spiritual leaders. From that passion, he established the “Kentucky Pastor’s Prayer Focus” in 2000. Through the prayer focus, pastors from all over Kentucky come together to be encouraged and inspired through prayer, worship, and fellowship.
