27 Feb Church Highlight: True Light Baptist Church – Alton, VA
True Light Baptist Church is in the small town of Alton in Virginia. Alton has a population of almost 2,100 people. True Light Baptist Church held its very first service on January 7, 2007. For the first few years, God provided a wonderful place to meet in an early-1900’s vacated church building. The days leading up to the first service were full of excitement as people gathered in the middle of cold weather to prepare both the inside and outside of the building in anticipation of their first meeting.
Pastors Greg and Connie Thomas are the founders and Lead Pastors of True Light Baptist Church. Prior to becoming the lead pastor, Pastor Greg served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1992. A year before his honorable discharge, he met his wife, Connie. In 1999, Pastor Greg knew he was called to preach and accepted his first pastorate in Bassett, Virginia at a church located on the same road he grew up on. During this time, he attended and graduated from Cornerstone Bible College. With a strong desire to see God do a special work in the South Boston, Virginia area, Pastor Greg founded True Light Baptist Church. Within a few years, they were blessed with a property consisting of twenty-six acres where they saw the dream of their new facility become a reality.
Pastors Greg and Connie see it as a privilege to serve their surrounding communities, and it is their desire to minister to people through meeting their needs in any way possible. True Light’s ministries are designed with every person in mind. Their prayer is that their congregation and surrounding counties will be strengthened and encouraged by the ministry of God’s Word.
Please join us this week as we pray for our friends at True Light Baptist Church! Together, let’s believe for God’s continuous anointing and favor over them as they continue to make a lasting difference in their local community.
