16 Feb Church Highlight: Pennington Park Church – Fisher, IN
For pastors seeking to learn from the faithful work God is doing in the Midwest, Pennington Park Church stands out as a compelling example of gospel-centered ministry and community engagement. Born out of a vision for church planting from College Park Church (North Indy), leaders began praying and planning in 2013 for a gospel presence in eastern Hamilton County. That vision moved from dream to reality when Chris Beals was hired as the lead pastor and a core group began meeting in 2015, culminating in the official launch of the congregation in September of that year. Over the next several years, the church grew in depth and community impact, eventually purchasing land at 126th & Pennington and constructing its first permanent building. By early 2020 the church had become fully autonomous and adopted its name, Pennington Park Church, marking a new chapter of local ownership and mission.
At the heart of Pennington Park’s ministry is a simple yet profound mission statement: “to know Jesus and make Him known.” This mission isn’t just a tagline, it’s a rhythm of life that shapes the church’s priorities and practices. Every ministry area, from Sunday worship to small groups to global outreach, is built around helping people connect with God’s Word, grow together in community, and be sent out to multiply disciples in their neighborhoods and beyond. Their gospel clarity rooted in the truth that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life — gives shape to preaching, discipleship, and service for every age and stage of faith.
Under the leadership of Chris Beals, Lead Pastor and Elder, Pennington Park has embraced both faithful biblical teaching and strategic vision for growth. Pastor Beals, a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary — brings thoughtful theological grounding together with a shepherd’s heart for a multi-generational congregation. His preaching regularly focuses on deep gospel truths, helping the church navigate life’s joys and challenges through the lens of Scripture. The church has also prioritized small group leadership, equipping leaders to shepherd others well and cultivate authentic, grace-filled community.
What is perhaps most inspiring to other pastors is the balance Pennington Park maintains between rootedness and outreach. They are a church deeply committed to knowing Jesus, faithfully teaching and living out the Scriptures and equally committed to making Him known both locally and globally. Whether it’s serving neighbors through partnerships, engaging students in discipleship, or casting vision for future church planting, Pennington Park exemplifies a healthy, gospel-centered church culture that pastors across contexts can learn from and celebrate.
Let’s keep our friends at Pennington Park Church in our prayers as they continue to do God’s work in their community and more.
