09 Dec Church Highlight: Legacy Church – Sutton, MA
Legacy Church in Sutton, Massachusetts, seeks to be a church that loves God and loves their community. Instead of being another entertainment-driven church that looks just like the world they simply trust and believe that Jesus will build His church. They believe that God has called them to be the Sowers of seeds through evangelism.
Lead Pastor Don McKinnon, a native New Englander born in Boston, brings a diverse background to his ministry. With a family legacy of pastoral leadership, he has lived across various states, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Missouri, and Virginia during his military service from 1992 to 1994. In April 2017, Pastor McKinnon became the lead pastor of Legacy Church. At the time of his arrival, the congregation had dwindled to twelve members. Demonstrating a commitment to “replanting” the seeds of the Gospel, he focused on rebuilding bridges between the church and the local community. Under his leadership, the church engaged in various outreach initiatives, such as participating in the town’s annual Chain of Lights event, offering free snacks, Christmas concerts, and children’s craft tables to hundreds of visitors.
Pastor McKinnon holds a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Liberty University, a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry and Philosophy from Eastern Nazarene College, and a Master of Theological Studies with a focus on Church Revitalization and Church History from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also a doctoral candidate at Liberty University.
Beyond his pastoral duties, he co-hosts the Practical Church Revitalization Podcast with his wife, Natalie McKinnon, who serves as the Church Administrator and Family Ministries Director at Legacy Church. Their collaborative efforts aim to share insights and strategies for church revitalization with a broader audience.
Through his unwavering commitment to faith and community engagement, Pastor Don McKinnon continues to lead Legacy Church in fostering meaningful connections and sharing the love of Christ in tangible ways.
Please join us this week as we celebrate and lift up our friends at Legacy Church in prayer! We are excited about all God is doing and will continue to do in and through them!
