Church Highlight: Breathe Life Christian Church – Harlingen, TX

Breathe Life Christian Church is in Harlingen, Texas. Harlingen has a population of about 65,000 people and is in the Rio Grande Valley about 30 minutes from the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Pastors Ramon and Alma Vela are the founders and lead pastors of BLCC. The church held its first service on May 2, 2010.

Prior to becoming a pastor, Ramon served as the Chief of Police for the city of Harlingen for several years. In 2004 he started attending a church where he and his wife gave their lives to Christ. In the fall of 2009, he was led to an abandoned church building by a dear friend. From that day on he knew that the God-sized dream of planting a church was confirmed and that he would soon become the pastor of that abandoned church. Over the next several months, people and business owners from all over their community came together to renovate the church building. Word was being spread throughout surrounding neighborhoods and towns and the excitement was tangible. God was perfectly orchestrating every detail of this new church launch. On May 2, 2010 Breathe Life Christian Church launched their first church service!

Pastors Ramon and Alma have a strongly rooted desire to share the love of Christ with every individual that they have the privilege to meet regardless of who they are or where they come from. They have a heart for the people of Rio Grande Valley and have committed their personal, professional, and ministerial lives to serving their community and the people within it. They believe that when you truly encounter the love of the Father, you’ll never be the same. Therefore, the foundation of Breathe Life has always and will always be the same — to show the love of Jesus to all who come their way.
