02 Sep Bring it on, rooster! by Pam Hamilton
In life we all face situations that take us by surprise. We can be overwhelmed or disappointed– the Bible says in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1Thessalonians 5:18). Giving thanks allows us to keep our focus on Him instead of what circumstances we face. This school year has been proof that I can keep my focus on Him instead of all the things I need to complete– that feeling of: ” Will I ever get all this finished?” tries to compete with my confidence in Jesus and how He is ready to help me– right now! Controlling our thoughts and keeping our focus right allows us to keep praising Him as we travel through the bumpy situations of life.
I am reminded of a story from the Bible. Jesus told Peter, “You (Peter) would deny even knowing Christ three times before morning.” What? So every time after that day the sound of that rooster tried to remind him– “You are a failure,” “You are a stain on all the disciples,” “Everybody knows what you did and what you said!” Peter had to face every morning with that loud rooster crowing, but it shows that the rooster reminded him to praise in the dark of the prison cell, or the beatings, or the many storms or snake bites. You can see no matter what happened, he believed in praise, and he knew the truth of God’s Word.
Let’s stand in faith together for each other– bring it on, rooster! Crow as loud and as often as you want! That reminds me to praise My God and Father!
