05 May Church Highlight: Resurrection Life Church – Picayune, MS
Resurrection Life Church, located in Picayune, Mississippi exists to fervently pursue the arrangements of opportunities for God and man to meet by passionately loving Him and loving people.
In 1988 RLC was birthed in the heart of a man who wanted to love people who had been beaten, battered, and bruised by the world and by the institutionalized Church. It was out of that heart that Resurrection Life Church was started. Founding Pastor James Hickman or, “Papa” as he was affectionately known to many for years, was a gentle giant. His heart for Picayune was not only evident to RLC but to the whole community.
In 2000 Pastor James Hickman stepped down and turned the leadership role over to his youngest son, Allen Hickman. Pastor Allen was with his dad at the inception of RLC and still serves the people of RLC and their city faithfully and passionately as lead pastor. Under the leadership of Pastor Allen, the church has grown to well over 1500 people meeting in weekly services at two campuses. Throughout its history, RLC has reached out to the city and community in many ways.
As of today they are meeting in a 37,000 square foot renovated store front. Approximately 1,500 people meet for worship in two services each Sunday, and youth and children’s ministry meet during the week on Wednesdays. They are seeing growth in all areas of the church, from the children’s ministry to lifegroups. RLC’s mission to love God and love people is not even close to being fulfilled. As long as there are people, they will continue to reach out and minister the love of Jesus. Part of that vision is leaving a legacy. They have finished a Prayer Building on their property and are using it on a daily basis for intercessory prayer, worship, individual prayer stations, corporate prayer, prayer rooms, healing rooms, and much more.
They are now in the development stage of a “NEW HOME”. They have over 50 acres in the Picayune city limits that they are in the process of developing a master plan for the acreage. The dream is to have a 1,500 seat main auditorium with children’s and youth ministry space, a sports complex, and retirement housing.
Please join us this week as we celebrate and lift up our friends at Resurrection Life Church in prayer! We are excited about all God is doing and will continue to do in and through them!
