04 Aug “I Gave Mine Up for You” by Rhonda Tipton
One morning, very early, I was rocking our newest addition to our family, our third child, Jacob Earl. The sun was rising over the beautiful rolling hillside on a crisp, spring morning. Everyone was still sleeping and the house was peacefully quiet. My mind was taking in all the beauty that surrounded me and my heart was swelling with love for the child I was holding.
Out of nowhere, from deep within my heart, I heard the Lord say, “Would you give him up for me?” At that second I began to rebuke that voice; my training kicked in… If it didn’t line up with scripture it wasn’t from God! Then, the story of Abraham and Isaac came to my remembrance. Again, with a sweet, gentle voice, so loud within my heart it could have been audible, I heard the Lord say, “I gave mine up for you.”
At that very moment, a peace fell over me. For the very first time in my 35 years of living, I began to understand how great our Fathers’ love is, not only for the world, but for me. “For this is how God loved us that He gave his one and only son.”
I will always remember that spring morning when my Jacob was a baby and Father God visited with me just to help he understand how great His love is.
Dear Sister, may you always remember and never forget how great His love is for you!
“And may we be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints the width and length and height and depth of His love (fully experiencing that amazing endless love); and (that you may come) to know (practically, through personal experience) the love of Christ which far surpasses (mere) knowledge (without experience), that you may be filled up (throughout your being) to all fullness of God (so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself).
