02 Jun Bigger Than by Jessamy Duncan
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.
Lamentations 3:24-25
Recently, we flew to see the ten foreign missionaries we support in the same country. Most of the missionaries live in dangerous parts of the country, so I was curious about which missionary’s ministry we would be able to visit.
Later in the trip, after hours of driving, we drove up the dirt road to visit a precious couple and the church they had planted. All the women were out front to shower us with love and flower necklaces. I heard God’s gentle reminder to me, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” He continued, “The ones you never thought would be ARE THE ones I use.”
I must admit this couple is one I would have never picked out as diligent Kingdom workers. The sweet husband struggled to walk because of a crippled leg, and his precious wife had a clubbed foot. God reminded me that nothing is too big or too small when He is involved. God can use people others would overlook because they have a heart of faith.
That afternoon there were 50 people crammed into this small hut home singing and worshiping more passionately than I’d never seen before. This pastor and his wife, instead of making their physical limitations an excuse, lead over 80 believers in weekly services in a country where it is illegal to be a Christian.
Daily, they risk everything because they know the cost. They are willing to give up their family land (for the church building), their livelihood, and monetary inheritance to their children because they believe what they are doing has Kingdom rewards.
They have brave faith in a Big God. He is bigger than any circumstances or physical limitation, bigger than any risk, bigger than any debt, bigger than any heaviness of ministry work, bigger than sleepless nights. Bigger than any THING.
Is there something in front of you that looks impossible? We just need to look at it with brave faith, confidently knowing that God is bigger! With Him, you ARE enough!
