07 Apr Forward Bound by Joy Handley
Complacency. Most of us wouldn’t admit we’ve been stuck before or that we are now, but it’s so easy to get stuck and not even know it. The definition of complacency is marked by self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies. Our life isn’t bad, our walk with God is pretty good, but then, slowly, somehow, we become unaware that we are stuck in the same place with our relationship with God we were six months ago. It’s not that we came from a bad place. Our relationship with God is “good,” and we’re satisfied. I believe complacency is the greatest enemy of God’s destiny for our lives. We have to consciously allow God to do a new thing in our hearts and lives. God’s best is always ahead of us, but we can never quit if we want to receive God’s best! Ask God for fresh revelation, because fresh revelations will get us through the dry seasons and the seasons we find ourselves stuck.
Hurt. Broken. Defeated. Throughout our lives, at one point or another, we will feel hurt, broken, defeated. So, what do we do when people let us down? Or even more than that, when we feel like God let us down? Something I try to remind myself is that we can’t experience the victory of the resurrection before we go through the sorrow of the cross. Although we feel let down by God or people, we must believe that God will work it out for our good; whether we see the good tomorrow or not for years, God has a master plan we have to trust. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that we can’t experience outward victory until our spirit declares victory! Maybe you are standing in the ashes of defeat right now. Begin to declare victory in your soul. Stand on your victory while you’re in the ashes of defeat. Stand up and declare victory instead of declaring defeat! When you look defeated or feel defeated; declare God’s victory, and you will begin to rise in the victory God won for you!
We have a big job to do. To bring the destiny God has for us to completion, we must be forward bound, never complacent, and always declaring the victory! Life is real and it’s easy to get stuck and it’s definitely easy to get hurt. Let’s keep our eyes on the One who won the victory and saved our souls. Then we will press through when it’s hard and overcome our hurt and complacency. I pray that wherever you find yourself today, that you will become forward bound with God by your side!
