“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV
Isn’t it awesome to be reminded not to lose heart and that our circumstances are temporary? Don’t lose heart in this tiny moment. Don’t give up because it feels like everything around you is overwhelming and out of your control. Allow God to continually renew you. Fix your eyes on heaven, allowing God to let you see your situations from His point of view.
I was talking with a lady in her 90’s one day and she spoke about life as if it were a painting on a canvas. She said some days you paint with dark colors because you may be sick or have difficult things going on and other days you paint with bright colors when all is going well. The trick is that it takes both the bright colors and the dark colors to create a beautiful picture. While we are living in these moments (or colors) we cannot see the whole picture; we only see what color is being used. She continued to say; I cannot wait to be up in Heaven with God looking down on the canvas of my life to see the beautiful picture He created because through it all He could see the entire canvas.
I can’t think of a more beautiful illustration to remind me to keep looking upward and not lose heart. There may be circumstances in our life out of our control but Christ overcame the world, so that we could live eternally with Him. There is nothing greater than that!
So today choose to paint with whatever color this season has for you; knowing fully that God is the artist for the canvas of your life.
