12 Sep Prayer Knows No Distance by Dodie Osteen
It doesn’t matter how old my children get, I still cover them with prayer every single day, and it still pays off. Now I am praying for my grandchildren and great granddaughter too. Throughout my life as a pastor’s wife and a nurse, I’ve seen lots of bad things happen to good people, and for a while, this put fear in my heart for my children. One day, I prayed to God and asked Him to protect them and to always help me know who to pray for. Since that day, He has answered that prayer again and again.
One time, when Paul was in Africa on a medical mission trip during his summer college break, he contracted malaria. There was no way for him to call home and ask for prayer. To this day, he says he was so sick and delirious that he couldn’t even pray, but out of his spirit came scripture verses that he had learned over the years. And soon, he got completely well. But thank God, one night, while Paul was gone, before we had heard anything about his malaria, I dreamed he was a little boy on my shoulders and I was praying for him like he needed help. I even told John about it and began to pray earnestly for Paul.
When Paul returned home, he described to me just how sick he had been, but that one day, he was healed instantly. We figured out that it was the exact day and time that I was praying! He immediately got out of his bed and continued his mission work there.
Isn’t that amazing? Prayer really knows no distance- especially a mother’s prayer, I’d like to think!
