FEAR

By Sandy Scheer

Fear is affecting people. We are not immune to this as Pastors’ wives. We are anointed for our call but still have to live day to day like everyone else.

Perfect timing with the news being full of fear. Let’s see, there is the Enterovirus, Ebola, ISIS terror attacks, Ferguson race riots, men jumping the fence at the White House along with a lot of crazies threatening to do some crazy things!

There’s plenty of opportunity for fear to take hold of your life.

The question is, “What are you going to do about it?” You do have a choice. You manage what you let come into your thought life. Fear is always looking for a door to enter.

For example, take a girl in her 20’s. Fear will try to creep in that she will never get married. After she gets married then fear will enter in that she will never have children. She finds out she is pregnant and fear comes in that she will have a miscarriage.

During the rest of the pregnancy, fear will try to come in that something will be wrong with the child. Once the baby is born, she continually checks the nursery to see if the baby is still breathing and worries about Sids. When the baby reaches the toddler stage, the mom can become fearful about her baby choking or catching a life-threatening disease.

During the school age years, the mother gets in fear that the child could get bullied or molested. Once the child starts driving, she is worried about what could happen when he/she gets behind the wheel. As the child goes off to college, she is scared the new student will get into drugs or marry the wrong person. And now you have come full circle and you are back at stage one.

Every stage of life there’s a place for fear to enter. That is why you have to shut the door to it. You have to get control of your thought life.

We all know Philippians 4:7 that we are to think on things that are lovely, pure and of good report. How do we do this with the news and social media giving us a minute-by-minute report on how many minutes ISIS is from Baghdad?

Take control! Don’t stick your head in the sand but watch what gets to your heart. Get in God’s word, pray and find your peace.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Do these things as I have done them and the God of peace will reign in your heart.” Discipline yourself to think on the things listed in Philippians 4:7. This is an exciting time because people are going to need God! We need to be ready and in a place to help and serve others. We have the answer! Jesus is the name above all names including Ebola!
We are ready! Defeat fear and let’s help people WIN!
Enjoy your life,
Pastor Sandy

John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
